Tasty Vietnamese Food at Three Fifty Cafe

The exterior of Three Fifty Cafe on NE Prescott in Cully.

Last week I had a chance to spend some time at Cully’s Three Fifty Cafe, and tried a handful of delicious items. If you haven’t been by, I recommend stopping in soon. From coffee to banh mi to salad rolls, the cafe is offering really good Vietnamese food that I look forward to eating again.

Note: I was invited by the owners who comped my meal, but observations are my own.

Three Fifty Cafe Opening in Former Prescott Cafe Space in Cully

The speculation is over—the old Prescott Cafe, which closed at the end of September 2022, is not being razed for housing but is being reborn into Three Fifty Cafe, a new bakery and shop (which looks like it started as a home-based bakery where you order then pick up baked goods at the baker’s home; it was a very popular kind of commerce during the pandemic). They will sell Vietnamese food and drink. More specifically, to quote their Facebook page, they are “offering a unique blend of traditional and modern Vietnamese flavors.”

Four Things I Learned This Week (March 4)

What a week—I almost had Grand Jury Duty, but wasn’t randomly picked, so Bridgetown Bites will continue to publish this month, when it was at risk of taking a month-long hiatus (Grand Jury Duty is a month-long commitment). Have a good weekend!

A reminder about Ukranian perogies. Every Saturday at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Sellwood sells Ukrainian-style perogies, cabbage rolls, and garlic sausages. This is just one way to support the Ukrainian community in Portland. 8014 SE 16th Avenue, Portland

Kachka is raising funds to help Ukraine. 100% of proceeds of their Chervona Wine cocktail will be donated to Red Cross Ukraine to support the people experiencing the war in Ukraine. 960 SE 11th Avenue, Portland

Pho Kim reopens. They’ve been in the midst of a soft opening this past week, and this 82nd Avenue Vietnamese restaurant will have their grand opening on Sunday, March 6. Back in 2020 a fire shut them down and they’ve been working on repairs since then. Along with enjoying delicious food there will be a White Lotus Lion Dance performance around noon to celebrated the re-opening. Check out the Montavilla News article for more info. 2204 SE 82nd Avenue, Portland

Vtopia Restaurant & Cheese Shop is now Fru Fru Terra. This vegan cheese shop in SW Portland has changed their name and currently operates as a vegan cheese and wine bar. They have set their sights on moving to SE Portland from their current Goose Hollow location, likely in fall 2022. Now, why did they change their name to Fru Fru Terra? Here’s their explanation:

“It is in abbreviation of the Latin words, Frui Fruges Terrae, which means to ‘enjoy fruits of the earth,’ which is precisely the experience we want you to have when entering our new space and elevated concept.” 1628 SW Jefferson Street, Portland

Four Things I Learned This Week (December 17)

Get to know Bun Bo Hue. House District 46 Representative Khanh Pham interviewed Đức Nguyễn, owner of Bun Bo Hue, a Vietnamese restaurant in Lents specializing in Bún Bò Huế, a spicy Vietnamese soup. Comfort food to the max. 7002 SE 82nd Avenue, Portland

Smart Donkey, a Burrito Beer Garden, is coming to SE Portland. Willamette Week reports that Oswaldo Bibiano of Autentica fame, is opening a burrito beer garden. I love the idea of a beer garden focusing on burritos! It should be open by end of the year. 3420 SE 50th Avenue, Portland

Sayler’s celebrates 75 years. East Portland stalwart Sayler’s Old Country Kitchen is going strong and celebrating 75 years in the steakhouse biz this year (they opened in 1946). From their website: “We’ve been through a lot these past 75 years, a couple of fires, a changing Portland landscape. But we’re still a Portland grown, family owned business. And proud of it.” They are seeking your Sayler’s memories, especially those of your celebrations there over the years—and you can submit them on the Sayler’s website. 10519 SE Stark Street, Portland

Portland Cà Phê is a Sprudgie finalist. Congrats to Portland Cà Phê for being a finalist in the Best New Cafe category for the 13th Annual Sprudgie Awards (Sprudge is a coffee news and culture website). The finalist will be determined by a public vote, so if you’d like to support them, head to the Sprudge voting page. 2815 SE Holgate Blvd, Portland
