5 Recent Bites – Avocado Toast, Pig Newton, and More

I thought it might be fun to talk about five of the most delicious things I’ve had recently here in Portland. We continue to be fortunate to have so many good things to eat in this town.

Avocado Toast: Saint Simon

Back in May, Saint Simon opened a new location on Brazee and 15th in the Irvington neighborhood, and it has been a total hit. There are often long lines of people waiting to get a cup of their excellent espresso, baked goods from Nuvrei, and a chance to hang out in a comfortable space for a little while. Data Analytics Chart

They have a pretty nice menu featuring both Sicilian pies and round NY-style pizza pies, appetizers, salads, and pastas.

Pizza Begets Pizza: New Pizzeria Vincenzo’s Pizza Opening in Old Hogan’s Goat Space

A sausage and peppers pizza from Hogan’s Goat in Rose City Park.

I recently learned that Hogan’s Goat, the pizzeria with one of the most memorable names around, has closed their doors. Final day of service was Friday, July 29. A new pizzeria is opening, though—Vincenzo’s Pizza (and thanks to a Bridgetown Bites reader for the tip).
