Pizzeria Otto Coming To FoPo

While perusing Facebook, I came across this post by the good folks at the Foster-Powell Neighborhood Association:

Permit filed by Pizzeria Otto on 1-April for a new location in the 72Foster building. What do you think FoPo? Can we take another pizza joint #FoPoPizzaRow

As an aside: one neighbor in the comments brings up the point of the plethora of pizzerias in the area, and I can understand the feeling, but I think Portland has done a pretty good job in balancing out the variety of styles of pizza available.

But back to this news about Pizzeria Otto, well-known for their delicious wood-fired Neapolitan pies on Sandy Blvd. The applicant for the permit is Otto’s owner Clark Hale and the location is 5005 SE 72nd Avenue, AKA 72Foster. This is a new building offering “affordable, intergenerational apartments,” developed by REACH. The restaurant buildout looks pretty straightforward, with a dining room, two restrooms, a pizza kitchen and bar.

If you’re curious about the building itself, the grand opening event for 72Foster is Saturday, April 27, from 10am-noon. It’s unclear if the pizzeria will be open before, by, or after that date; I’ll keep an eye out for more info.
