It’s hard to believe it, but this Saturday is the last chance to shop at the Rocky Butte Farmers Market this year. The organizers have worked hard all year and it shows—they’ve gathered together a great group of vendors, provided fun entertainment and a positive shopping experience. It feels good to support a variety of local businesses; plus it’s easy to get there.

There will be good things, as usual, this weekend:

Local vendors. Flowers, produce, coffee, honey, ceramics, and more made by farmers and small businesspeople in our local community and nearby.
Live music by Red Yarn. Red Yarn (AKA Andy Furgeson) hails originally from Texas, but is a dedicated Oregon-based family performer, dad, and puppeteer “who weaves folksongs and puppetry into high-energy shows for all ages.” It’s a good time for all.
Seasonal kids activities. Show off you Halloween costume at the market! Join the market-wide scavenger hunt! Get a spooky ghost or cute pumpkin painted right on your face! And the market organizers have come up with a game called “Find the Radish”—kids can look for four knit radishes hidden at various vendor booths, and whoever finds them should bring them to the market information booth to collect FREE honey sticks from T Bees Honey!

I hope you’ll be able to make this final day of the Rocky Butte Farmers Market for 2021. It should be a good time and a great way to pick up some delicious and beautiful things, and connect with the local community. Many thanks to the RBFM organizers for putting together such a great market so easily accessible to the traditionally underserved Madison South, Sumner, and Roseway neighborhoods.
