A tipster alerted me to a sign posted about a new tenant coming to the 1200 NE Broadway building (aka Lloyd’s Station), with the name “Burgers & Fries.” Another sign posted indicated the space is leased to “NW Burgers & Fries,” which is Five Guys. Looking at the list of locations on their website, this seems to be the first location in Portland proper (there are locations established in the surrounding suburbs).
I did run across some paperwork that made me think Killer Burger was moving into the space, but that seems to be false (I had reached out to them to confirm). A couple of city permits solidly indicate Five Guys as the tenant with language like “Wiring for the tenant improvement for the a new five guys.” You can see their presence in the Urban Works Real Estate PDF promo ad for Lloyd’s Station, too—the bird’s-eye view image is the correct one, with Five Guys occupying the NW corner of the building.
I know there are a lot of Five Guys fans out there, so this will be music to their ears. My main beef (pun intended) with the restaurant is that when I order a cheeseburger, more often than not the cheese remains unmelted unless I make a request for melty cheese. Once that’s done, it’s a very tasty burger; love the fries, too. Anyway, I’ve reached out to Five Guys to get more info on the new location and will pass that on when I get it.
Correction 2/23/26: This location is unit 110—not Suite 10 which was previously home to the restaurant Prime Rib + Chocolate Cake that closed in 2019. If you remember, this was run by Restaurants Unlimited, the same group behind the Portland City Grill (which is still up and running) in Big Pink. Prime Rib + Chocolate Cake did erect signage where the Five Guys eventually opened, which added unnecessary confusion when looking into the past.
