One of my favorite combinations at Red Sauce: pepperoni and ricotta (thank you Arturo’s in NYC for the inspiration)
This week, Red Sauce Pizza celebrates seven years in business. After making it through two years of heightened pandemic times, this is a real achievement. They are celebrating this week with pizza and ice cream deals, plus news on the opening of their dining room.
Sure, I could have just shared their post, but I wanted to take the time here to sing my praises of Char and her staff and the work they did during what will no doubt be some of their most challenging years in the biz. The COVID-19 pandemic screwed up so much of life—especially when it came to eating and enjoying the food we had become accustomed to, in that “before times” carefree attitude we all had while in public. Red Sauce did an amazing job of—for use of a better term—pivoting to adapt.
Granted, along with American-style Chinese food (and maybe Thai food), pizza was kind of born for takeout. So Red Sauce that on their side. But from an outsider’s perspective, they basically pressed down on the gas pedal and zoomed forward in ways that made it possible for them to keep the business coming. I was really impressed at all the ways they adapted to the “new normal”—new ways of ordering, safe ways to pick up food, and refining it over time. Their use of social media was also excellent. They created a backyard patio outdoor space. The addition of soft serve ice cream is nice, too.
As for their way of celebrating 7 years this week, today they have the following specials: $7 off all large pies and a $7 special sundae TODAY (Tuesday, October 25).
I’ve missed their dining room, and additional good news is that they are opening it up in a week! The dining room will officially be open Tuesday, November 1. I’m really looking forward to that.
Congrats on seven years, Char and Red Sauce staff! I’m really happy you’re still here.
