Ice Cream Is Coming to Foster-Powell

I’ve done a little more research on the ice cream shop that a Bridgetown Bites reader brought to my attention a couple of weeks ago. Turns out that yes indeed, there is going to be ice cream coming to Foster-Powell. And according to a permit from early August, it looks like it’s going to be part of an enlarged commercial space.

As an aside: I’ve been absent here because of 1) increased client editing work, and 2) my old computer stopped working (a ghost moved in), which initiated a cascade of actions, so I’m in catch-up mode.

So, about this new ice cream shop. Instagrammer Borrowed Times, who does sign painting and tattooing, is the painter behind this bespoke sign, which looks great (see above). He wrote, “I had a great day yesterday thanks to the good fellas Nate and Mike from @thunderbirdpdx who are opening an Ice Cream shop in the middle of #fosterpowell.” Watch is video here. He also remarked at how good it looks inside.

The address of this space, judging from the video, is 4515 SE 63rd Avenue, but the other part of the building (named “For Mrs. Noble“) is at 6258 SE Foster Road. Permits filed presumably for this project are at the latter address. It involves the following:

SINGLE PDF: TI FOR NEW TENANT ON FIRST FLOOR. INCLUDES CHANGE OF USE FROM OFFICE TO BAR, REMOVE EXISTING INTERIOR WALLS AND ADD NEW, NEW POST AND FOOTINGS AND BAR AREA. CREATE ONE TENANT SPACE FROM TWO TENANT SPACES.

The space that housed Hemp Bar is pretty beautiful, according to its photos. I do wonder if a new bar is going to happen, too. The aforementioned guys, “Nate and Mike,” run Thunderbird Bar, which is part of the Lightning Bar Collective. Thunderbird offers a lot of vegan options, so it would not surprise me if this new ice cream shop offered vegan ice cream (and it’s Portland, after all).

As for a name of this ice cream shop, that is unknown to me at this time. If you know anything, feel free to reach out. I will continue to pursue more details on this project.

Ice Cream Shop [opening TBD]
