RingSide Steakhouse suffered a fire earlier this year that temporarily closed down the restaurant. Good news now: RingSide will reopen on Monday, August 4!

The April Fire at RingSide Steakhouse

On Saturday, April 5, a fire started mid-afternoon behind the stainless steel lining of the sauté and south grill stations in the restaurant’s kitchen. Thankfully, firefighters were able to put it out within the hour. At the time, the owners shared this message:

“While we don’t yet have a timeline for reopening, there is a lot of work to be done to reopen the restaurant. We have begun coordinating with our insurance provider and a team of contractors to assess the damage and begin the process of rebuilding. While there may be some time before you’re able to enjoy dinner with us again, please continue to support all of the other excellent food and beverage options that Portland has to offer.”

RingSide Steakhouse Today

My understanding is that the RingSide team has worked hard these past four months and with a commitment to preserve the look and feel of the restaurant that guests have known and loved all these years—a warm, welcoming, and familiar place for a delicious meal.

My contact for the restaurant wrote, “The Peterson family made it a priority to maintain the spirit, look, and experience that generations of Portlanders have come to treasure.” I have a feeling it’s going to be a meaningful reunion for the restaurant and its guests as folks return on Monday.

About the Food and Drink at RingSide Steakhouse

I wanted to let you know about a few thing on the food side: A dinner special, onion rings, some new menu items, and the updated menu itself.

Monday Prime Rib Special

This three-course meal special is returning, and at a $57 price point. The meal includes
a mixed green salad, prime rib served with horseradish and Yorkshire pudding, and crème brûlée. Sub a Caesar salad for an additional $5 and/or 3 roast jumbo prawns for $10.

And Don’t Forget the Onion Rings

Yes, you’ll also be able to enjoy their beloved onion rings with their classic steaks—or maybe just on their own! They do have a cult following. According to the restaurant, James Beard praised them, saying they are “the finest French Fried Onion Rings I have ever eaten in America.”

New Menu Items

Some of the new menu items include:

  • Crispy Miso Glazed Octopus: coconut red curry, miso butter, fried sweet potato, and charred scallion.
  • Hamachi Crudo: yuzu, sesame, radish, serrano, sunchoke, and black garlic.
  • Pan Seared Glory Bay Salmon: njuda, sweet corn succotash, tomato butter, and green onion.

To Drink

You’ll find wine, beer, and cider, as well as some house cocktails and couple of NA cocktails. For a full menu of drinks and eats, head to the RingSide website (or click here for the menu)

Going forward, they’ll be open Monday to Thursday 4:30pm to 9pm, Friday 4:30pm to 9:30pm, Saturday 4pm to 9:30pm, and Sunday 4pm to 9pm.

Wishing the RingSide Steakhouse team all the best as they reopen on Monday.
