Good Neighbor Cà Phê Will Open in NW Portland

Drinks at Good Neighbor Cà Phê? Probably.

A new Vietnamese cafe called Good Neighbor Cà Phê (not to be confused with Brave Neighbor Coffeehouse) is officially opening in Northwest Portland on NW 23rd Avenue. It’s a sister cafe to one of Portland’s top Vietnamese coffee shops, Portland Cà Phê, as well as Better Days Cafe. At Good Neighbor, they will continue Kim Dam’s mission of “community, quality, and Vietnamese-inspired coffee culture.” They’ve been in soft opening mode for about a week, and will hold their grand opening tomorrow (Friday).

Chatting With Kim Dam at After Ours About Good Neighbor

When I was at the media event for After Ours, Kim came over to say hello and we spoke briefly about the new cafe—which a reader had initially alerted me to. While she was, of course, preoccupied with helping run a celebratory evening with local influencers and members of Portland’s food media, it was kind of her to check in and share her time to speak about the Good Neighbor Cà Phê.

At that point there were a lot of little details to attend do but she was pretty upbeat and excited about the new spot, anticipating their soft opening the following Friday.

Location and Space

The cafe is located in the space formerly held by Tini’s Mini Craft Cocktail Lounge. It is next door to Champagne Poetry‘s second location there on NW 23rd Avenue.

The interior color scheme is creamy browns and whites—on the walls, furniture, and counter. I also like the orange tile accent wall and tin ceiling elements (reminds me of NYC). There’s comfy seating in the front, chairs and tables down the left side, and a bar/counter on the right. Concrete floors, along with wicker and modern lighting add to the informal vibe.

What To Expect

They’ll be offering espresso coffee drinks: latte, cappuccino, cortado, etc, and some specialty drinks: bạc xỉu and a salted latte (made with salted cream). Also, there’s a Good Neighbor Tonic made with blood orange puree, tonic water, and espresso.

They offer straight up matcha, as well as some specialty drinks: pandan vanilla matcha, strawberry matcha, mango coconut cream matcha, and a yuzu honey foam matcha. The pandan vanilla matcha can be served iced or hot, whereas the others are iced drinks. It looks like the pandan vanilla matcha latte was very popular during their soft opening.

Milk options are dairy, oat, and almond.

The bánh mì (as you may know, Kim’s mother’s restaurant is The House of Bành Mì) are coming, too.

They are running a BOGO special on Friday and Saturday during their hours of 8am to 2pm. Wishing Kim and her team all the best as they do their official grand opening tomorrow!
