Top 5 Posts on Bridgetown Bites, August 2025

Data Analytics Chart

Welcome to August 2025’s review of top posts for the month. This month it was a combination of what’s here and what’s coming as far as cafes, restaurants, markets, and food cart pods go. One thing I noticed is that most of these articles involved more photos than I’ve included in the past—this may or may not be a determining factor but it’s something worth thinking about.

As far as traffic goes, it was a good month. A little over 37,500 unique visitors generated close to 53,000 page views—the best month so far on Bridgetown Bites. Thats an increase from July of about 17.9% and 12.7%, respectively.

Additionally, at the writing of this article, the keyword phrase “portland food news” puts Bridgetown Bites at the top the first page on Google search results; last year we were on like the fourth or fifth page of Google search results. The ranking varies from search engine to search engine, but regardless, we are on the first page. This feels like an achievement.

As always, thanks for reading, commenting, sharing, your emails and your tips—it makes a difference.

Last September I reported that a new food cart pod called PDX Food Pod was going to open in outer East Portland on NE Halsey at 162nd Avenue. I hadn’t heard much about it lately, so I reached out to Roya Baradar, my contact at the pod, for more information. Here is our PDX Food Pod update.

A new restaurant from Gabriel Pascuzzi will open in Slabtown’s former Tip Top Burger Shop space. Called Hey Luigi, they’ll offer cocktails and food that goes well with cocktails (and beer, wine, and NA drinks). I spoke with Gabriel earlier this month and here is what I learned about him, and about Hey Luigi.

Grand opening celebration step and repeat for 99 Ranch Market's first Portland store.

After many months of anticipation, the wait is over—99 Ranch Market opened this past Saturday with a big grand opening celebration right outside the new Asian supermarket. It was definitely a festive occasion and we were there drinking it all in and having a good time. Here are some of the things we saw and heard right outside—and inside—the new store.

  1. Hi Meg,
Thank you very much for keeping us informed about the PDX food scene. Your food cart update this week reminded me of a post you had made about a year ago on a soon to come food cart pod on NE Fremont around 43rd Street. They have been slower than expected getting it ready, have you heard anything about a new timeline for opening?
Also, thank you for including cross streets in your initial paragraphs when you do your stories and updates, it makes it easier to figure out where the stuff is located.
    Best regards to you,
    Mike Tierney
