Beijing Hot Pot gets some love. The Korean Mama and The Korean Son recently went to Beijing Hot Pot and had a great meal at a good price. Watch them here—and maybe stop by yourself! They are just south of Ha VL and just north of Fubonn in East Portland. 2768 SE 82nd Avenue, Portland
Radical Fall Salad at Fresh Love. It’s no secret that I love the salads at Fresh Love, and they have a new one for the season that sounds very good: the Radical Fall Salad. “This crunchy, delicious, seasonal stunner celebrates local Ruby Mac and Mountain Rose apples from Kiyokawa Family Orchards, perfectly paired with crisp radicchio from Crows Farm (thanks to our friends at Organically Grown Co). We’ve rounded it out with organic celery, fennel, toasted sunflower seeds, aged gouda, and a sherry thyme vinaigrette that ties it all together.” 7434 NE Fremont Street, Portland
Big award haul at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. The Oregonian reports, “Oregon breweries and cideries took home 29 of the 347 medals handed out at what is widely considered to be the nation’s most preeminent beer festival.” Some of the winning breweries include Portland’s Von Ebert and Grand Fir Brewing, Hood River’s pFriem Family Brewers, Astoria’s Fort George, and Bend’s Deschutes Brewery. No Saint will close temporarily. They’ll shutter at the end of October in order to remodel the space for the restaurant’s third birthday. “We’re remodeling the space to become the restaurant we’ve always dreamed of: an intimate 6-seat bar, tables that wrap around the perimeter, and our wood-burning oven remaining at the center to warmly greet you.” 1603 NE Killingsworth Street, Portland
Parkrose Coffee Shop featured in the East Portland Voice. This fledgling publication recently wrote about the Parkrose Coffee Shop. In “A Coffee Shop for Five Neighborhoods,” Steph Routh catches up with owners Lily Burnett and Peter Irby to see how things are going at this very popular Parkrose coffee spot. Check it out! 4826 NE 105th Avenue, Portland

Pizza Machine is open in the Hinterland food cart pod. Back in September, Oathbreaker Pie shut down (9/28), and just a week later, Pizza Machine was a presence there. They’ve got round and square pies, slices, savory knots, and dessert knots (here’s the menu). ORSOS records indicate that Aaron Barnes (of Scholar fame) is associated with it. 2216 SE 50th Avenue, Portland
Choco Tacos at Kate’s are here. Recently Salt & Straw released the Tacolate, their version of the Choco Taco, and I wondered if Kate’s Ice Cream was going to toss theirs into the ring any time soon. Well, that time is NOW. They released them Wednesday and theoretically they will be available through Sunday. Max 5 tacos per person and here are the flavors:
- Pumpkin Spice: A gluten-free waffle cone taco filled with pumpkin spice ice cream, dipped in chocolate, and topped with whipped cream.

Space available at The Zipper. Saw this on Craigslist—looks like one of the restaurants is for sale, plus there is a monthly lease (an NNN) amount. The reason? “Selling to relocate our restaurant to a larger space.” It is unclear who exactly is leaving. 2705 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland
No Kings special at Lardo. For Saturday during the protest: “We will be running a special this Saturday 10/18 for the ‘No Kings’ movement. $3 beers all day if you dress up in an inflatable costume. And FREE beers for anyone dressed up as a frog.” 1212 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland
