Salad Week 2026 is almost here! We’ll be turning our focus to salads later this month, from Monday, July 20 to Friday, July 24. Look for salad specials, roundups, some Vancouver action, and more.

Chit Chat About Portland Salad Week Origins

2025 was the return of Salad Week after a three-year hiatus, due to a number of reasons. We introduced a new element last year: the field trip. We went to the Willamette Valley wine country then; we’ll be heading to Vancouver this year. I find the Vancouver food and drink scene interesting and enjoy following its evolution.

Over the years, I’ve mentioned how Salad Week came to be. Here’s how I told the story last year:

“The idea for Salad Week first came up summer [2021] during the Portland Mercury’s Burger Week. Corbin Smith asked on Twitter, ‘When is pdx salad week, I ask you…’ Rachel Monahan responded with “’But I really want a salad week.’ As someone who was already smitten with salad that spring and summer, I was inspired—and started plotting Salad Week.”

Salad Week is a little different from other food weeks. Along with including restaurants participating in Salad Week, we write a bunch of salad-related content.

I’m also very happy to have Judith Rich back on the Salad Week train to help move things along. Big thanks also to Bryan Vance who will have a guest post for the week on this year’s taste test: salad dressings!

What To Expect During Portland Salad Week 2026

Here’s what we have in store for you this year:

Monday, July 20: Portland Salad Week 2026 Restaurant Specials

We’ll feature Portland Salad Week specials in and around Portland. We’ll also include an interactive map showcasing participating restaurants, food carts, and other locations serving Portland Salad Week offerings.

Tuesday, July 21: The Return of the Big Salad

We are eschewing the side salad for the—in the words of Elaine Bennis—Big Salad, spotlighting hearty, flavor-packed salads that are the main event. Loaded with protein, fiber, and bold ingredients that prove salad can absolutely stand on its own, we’ll showcase these meal-sized salads that so many of you ask about.

The Almighty Vegan Salad

Portland’s vegan salad game is anything but an afterthought! From vibrant seasonal produce to bold, unexpected flavors and textures, we’ll spotlight the salads proving that a vegan approach is interesting, delicious, and memorable—for vegans and omnivores, alike.

Wednesday, July 22: Salad Road Trip—Bridgetown Bites Heads to Vancouver

The Bridgetown Bites crew heads across the river to Vancouver, Washington to explore some of the most interesting salads just north of Portland.

Thursday, July 23: Portland Supermarket Salad Dressing Showdown

After last year’s popular supermarket deli salad taste test, co-hosted by Stumptown Savings, we’re turning our attention to what can make or break any great salad: the dressing. This year, we’ll sample and rank two types of supermarket salad dressings—Italian and Ranch—sharing the taste tester’s opinions and observations on these two classic dressings. And wait ’til you see the winners!

Friday, July 24 – Portland Salad Week in Review

We wrap the week with salad highlights, best bites, and unexpected favorites with dynamic recaps, photos, readers’ choice favorites, influencer picks, and more.
