It’s Filipino Eats Week in Portland Next Week

Thanks to Randy Philbrick of Veloso’s Filipino Cuisine food cart in Montavilla, I’ve learned that it’s Filipino Eats Week next week! It’s a way to celebrate Filipino-owned restaurants and businesses in the PNW. I’ll focus on restaurants and other eateries here. Filipino Eats Week goes from Sunday, October 24 to Sunday, October 31. It’s organized and promoted by Portland’s Foundation for Philippine Progress.

Get Your Gobble Up Portland Tickets

Gobble Up, which features “the best craft food makers in the Pacific Northwest,” is Urban Craft Uprising’s premier food show, and takes place in Seattle and Portland. The Portland event is Saturday, November 13 from 10am to 5pm at Alder Block (100 SE Alder). I attended it back in 2019 and really enjoyed getting to know new-to-me vendors and revisiting ones I love (I’m looking at you, Eliot’s Nut Butters.)

Some of my favorite things on 82nd Avenue.

After being cancelled in 2020, Around the World in 82 Dishes—a celebration of global food options situated on and around 82nd Avenue—is back! This “international food tour” runs three consecutive weekends between Saturday, October 23 and Sunday, November 7, 2021: October 23 & 24, October 30 & 31 and November 6 & 7. This event is produced by the 82nd Avenue Business Association and is really a way to celebrate Portland’s most diverse area through food and drink within the 82nd Avenue of Roses Business District, an almost 5-mile long and 1-mile wide section of Portland—think the Clackamas County line to NE Sandy Blvd, and between SE 80th Avenue to 92nd Avenue.
