Haitian food lovers, you have something to celebrate—TAPTAP Cuisine is opening a brick-and-mortar restaurant on NE Sandy Blvd. They operated on N WIlliams as a food truck with a nice (covered) outdoor seating area for many months, but now they have leveled up into a building where they can create, prepare, and offer their beautiful Haitian and Caribbean cuisine in NE Portland.

NYC Pizzeria, which has been open for close to 18 years in Vancouver, has decided to open a second location in NE Portland. They’ll offer a slightly scaled-down menu to start, and are looking forward to bringing their style of pizzas across the river into our fair city.

Over on Instagram, Cereus PDX has announced they are closing after about two and a half years in business at Prescott Village (NE Prescott Street and 15th Avenue). During that time they have offered a menu of tasty South American food and drinks, gracious hospitality, and good times. I wrote about their opening back in 2022 and enjoyed the food when I dined there. We see goodbyes and restaurant closings happen in Portland fairly regularly—unfortunately—but this goodbye message included some critical thoughts from Bradley Thomas Stevens, one of the owners of Cereus.

A new “wine shoppe + veg-forward eatery” is opening soon in Sellwood-Moreland called The Fates Bread & Bottle Co. They will take over the space that was formerly occupied by Maeve, which closed on September 28. I reached out to owner Chanelle Sinclair to learn more, but was unable to connect. Pleasure Mountain, a new bar focusing on Indian cocktails and food, will open on NE 30th Avenue just north of Killingsworth. This is the space that most recently was home to Teote Tavern, which closed this past July. I had a chance to speak with Jim French, Pleasure Mountain’s owner, last week. Here’s what I’ve learned.
