The other day I was perusing Instagram and came across this new account called @eatfaceplant. Turn out Face Plant is a new fast food restaurant that will offer a 100% plant-based fast food menu in what used to be a 1990’s-era McDonald’s on Swan Island. There is just something poetic about that.

Updates To Off-Site Odor Impacts Regulations in Portland

This morning the Portland City Council addressed the issue of odors in Portland—the off-site odor impacts regulations, and how to change them to work better for businesses in this city. This process started in March 2024 and the code changes were passed today, November 13, by Carmen Rubio, Dan Ryan, Rene Gonzalez, and Ted Wheeler; Mingus Mapps was absent. This all started with the situation earlier this year regarding Phở Gabo.

I’m happy to write here about the East Side Dining Guide (full disclosure: I work on the committee that has put the East Side Dining Guide together). A project of the 82nd Avenue Business Association, it’s a guide and map that focuses on the restaurants, bars, cafes, and food carts along 82nd Avenue: from Cully in the north to Brentwood-Darlington in the south.
