Sushi Fukami Is Now Open in Portland [Photos]

Back in May, I first wrote about Sushi Fukami opening in Portland (inaccurately calling it “Fukami Sushi” at the time). After a few unexpected delays they are now open, offering an eight-seat omakase at $195 per person, led by Chef Cody Auger (Nimblefish). I’m grateful to have been at a media preview dinner last week with four colleagues to experience Sushi Fukami, and get to know Chef Auger’s work over the two-and-a-half hour meal.

Fukami means “deep taste” in Japanese.

Discover PDX Food Carts Coming to NE Alberta in Portland

The Alberta Arts District will see a new food cart pod this fall: Discover PDX Food Carts. “Discover,” for short, they are looking to have about a half dozen food carts in what has been at times an empty dirt and/or grass lot, and at other times used for food carts, plants, parking, and probably other things I’m unaware of.

Small Bites: Creo Chocolate, Bicho’s, Pintxes Pintxos, and More

Creo Chocolate Cedar Hills has opened. Their grand opening was Thursday, September 10. For the first week they are open, they will be donating 10% of their sales to the Beaverton Education Foundation. BTW, their bars of 100% cacao are delicious, as are their black lava salted caramels. 2855 SW Cedar Hills Blvd, Beaverton

Cosmopolis Coffee Will Open in Portland’s Irvington Neighborhood

Cosmopolis Coffee, a small Portland roaster, is opening a cafe on NE Broadway on the south edge of the Irvington neighborhood. They’ll be taking over the old Saint Simon space; Saint Simon left there this past June. I spent a little time chatting with Conor Carrigan, Cosmpolis’ owner, to learn more about what’s to come for them.
