Chris Pfeifer, who you may know from The 1905 in North Portland and Original Dream Pizza in Northeast Portland, has opened Dick’s Pizza, a new pizzeria in the Sellwood-Moreland section of Southeast Portland. It’s in the former location of Sunny’s Pizza, and is located between a Cena and its private dining space Festa. Update 3/16/26: Thanks to a friend of the blog, I’ve learned that they are in soft opening pop-up mode until mid-April, when they will fully open.

It’s official! Portland has its own version of the 40/40 Club with the newly opened Honorable Mention—at least according to this New York expat. Honorable Mention, Portland’s new sports lounge, which is co-owned by Portland Trail Blazers’ point guard Damian Lillard, opened earlier this month inside The Benson Hotel. The space blends a sultry, luxe vibe with a cozy, welcoming feel that’s perfect for gathering with your crew of friends and sports lovers. The Bridgetown Bites team stopped by its media night this week and came away impressed.

The sign is up!

Last week, a Bridgetown Bites reader told me that a new business called the Oregon City Market is opening in the Historic Waterfront District in downtown Oregon City. Their soft opening was yesterday, Tuesday, March 3, there’s a ribbon-cutting today, and they are doing a grand opening celebration this weekend, from Friday March 6 to Sunday March 8.

We wrote a short entry about them in last Friday’s Small Bites, but I was curious to learn more, so I sat down to chat with Jana Daisy-Ensign, one of the market’s owners. Here’s some of what we talked about.

Welcome, Cocina de Mary. This is another case of two restaurants operating in one space at different times. RJ Skillets is there from 8am to 3pm (starting 10am on Mondays) and Cocina de Mary operates 5pm to 9pm (closed Mondays). They offer Guatemalan food: cuchitos, a type of tamal; churrasco; hilachas, similar to ropa vieja; pepián; and tayuyos, similar to pupusas. They also offer familiar dishes like quesadillas, fried plantains, empanadas, burritos, and more. They officially opened on Friday, February 6. 2529-B NE Alberta Street, Portland

I recently learned from a Bridgetown Bites tipster that Nana’s Exquisite Confections opens today on NE 82nd Avenue in the Roseway neighborhood. Operated by local baker Florence Jenkins, she has operated Nana’s at markets and through mail-order for a number of years. Now, she starts this part of her journey in a brick and mortar space.

I spoke with Florence earlier this week about this next step in her business, and here is what I learned.
