Montelupo Introduces Indoor Dining and Monty’s Caffè

The news is out but I wanted to chime in with how thrilled I am that Montelupo Italian Market is going to open its indoor dining room this Friday—plus Monty’s Caffè on Saturday! It’s been over a year since they opened and I am sure they are excited to move forward with dining service for their customers inside their space.

The photo that has been passed around of the new dining space emphasizes “plush leather banquets” (see above), and they sure do look good. Andi Prewitt at the Willamette Week also drops these details about the dining room: “Designed by Matt Lynch, co-owner of retro burger and sandwich joints Super Deluxe and Snappy’s, the soaring white walls are adorned with vintage Italian posters along with images of wolves—a nod to the Italian village the restaurant is named after that was once inhabited by the carnivorous mammals, according to local lore.”

It’s also important to emphasize that their outdoor covered patio—heated during the cooler seasons—will remain available for those who prefer to eat alfresco. To eat inside, however, you’ll have to 1) make a reservation and 2) show proof of vaccination.

Other big news is the arrival of Monty’s Caffè, their new daily coffee service. From 8am to 2pm every day you can enjoy their espresso drinks (made with an Italian espresso machine, natch) featuring PUSH X PULL coffee and pastries from Jen’s Bagels & Pastries. You can enjoy all of this throughout Montelupo’s myriad spaces—inside (proof of vaccination required), under the covered heated patio, or in their patio pods. Free WiFi, too.

Finally, there are some new dishes on the Montelupo menu, introduced on their Instagram page: arancini with ‘nduja & ricotta; roasted acorn squash with garlic & dijon, stuffed with whipped sheep’s cheese & pepitas; pappardelle with creamy braised pork ragù & broccolini-basil pesto; spaghetti with mussels, garlic, chili & tomato; fusilli with chanterelles, parsnip, celery root, cream sauce & pecorino. Frankly, they all sound good but that roasted acorn squash has totally got my number. I’ll take a couple of those aracini, too.

This is the kind of thing that helps remind me that the world has good stuff in store. See you over at Montelupo!
