Thanksgiving 2022 in Portland

It’s almost Thanksgiving! Can you believe it? Here are some options for for eat-in, take-out, meats, baked goods and treats for the holiday in Portland.

Dinner: Eat In

Andina. They are offering a four-course dinner of “local autumn bounty and delicious Peruvian flavors” on Thanksgiving Day from 2pm to 8pm. Vegetarian and traditional options available. Wine will be available by the bottle or via pairing, with Andean fare in mind. Signature and house cocktails will be available to celebrate on this special day of thanks.

  • First course: choice of delicata squash, quinoa, pickled onion, huacatay, parsley, radicchio; or butternut squash soup with salsa verde, pickled aji amarillo, and hazelnuts
  • Second course: choice of oxtail humita or red kuri squash
  • Third course: choice of grilled hen, Bordeaux sweet potato, ahi limo gravy; or gnocchi, hen of the woods, kale, kabocha squash

Bullard. Serving an a la carte menu featuring a classic Thanksgiving plate with smoked turkey and all the fixings along with a variety of Bullard favorites, house-made pies, cocktails and wine. Details of the Thanksgiving plate: smoked turkey, mashed potatoes & gravy, Brussels sprouts with bacon jam, glazed carrots, cornbread stuffing, cranberry sauce and a house roll.

Campana. Serving a 4-course Italian-inspired Thanksgiving feast for (prepaid) parties of 1 to 4. 

  • First course: Lil’ Starts Chicory Salad (maple vinaigrette, hazelnuts) and Autumn Vegetable Soup (tomato, lentils, Parmigiano)
  • Second course: tortelli di zucca (sage, brown butter, amaretti)
  • Third course: roasted and braised Turkey (traditional gravy, cranberry sauce, chanterelle stuffing, glazed autumn vegetables, Piemontese potatoes)
  • Fourth course: apple tart with cinnamon gelato

Urban Farmer. Offering a “family-style format centered around a Pacific Northwest rendition of the holiday classic.” There’s a lot of variety, including options other than turkey (menu). 

  • For the table: grilled flatbread, Caesar salad and a fall beet salad.
  • First Course: choice of shellfish bisque, blue cheese souffle, Dungeness crab cake, charcuterie and cheese, seared Spanish octopus
  • Entree: choice of honey and thyme roasted Turkey breast, cedar plank roasted salmon, pastrami spiced cauliflower steak, dry-aged New York Strip steak, honey ham and pepper glazed shrimp
  • Sides for the table: warm sweet potato rolls, cornbread and chestnut stuffing, smashed bliss potatoes, charred brown butter Brussels sprouts, candied sweet potatoes, maple cranberry sauce

Dinner: Takeout and Meal Kits

Bergerac Bistro. $110 (2 persons), $220 (4 persons), or $330 (6 persons) gets you a 3-course (“easy to assemble and rewarm”) Thanksgiving dinner.

  • First course: pear Salad GF (Poached pears, blue cheese cream, toasted nuts & mixed greens)
  • Second course: this GF Thanksgiving dinner includes hen chicken stuffed with apples, onions & herbs, Brussels sprouts, carrots & green beans medley, porcini potato gratin, white wine Calvados sauce, cranberry sauce

Bullard. $200 gets you a fully-cooked and reheat-ready dinner. It feeds four people.

  • Meat: smoked half turkey and gravy
  • Sides: four dinner rolls; whipped butter; mashed potatoes; roasted Brussels sprouts; bacon jam; honey glazed carrots; stuffing; and cranberry sauce
  • Dessert: half a pumpkin pie (four slices) and whipped cream

  • Meats: turkey pot pie

  • Meat: 1.5 lbs of roasted turkey breast

  • Meats: herb butter basted slow roasted turkey; brown sugar and bourbon glazed ham
  • Sides: roasted garlic whipped potatoes; roasted Brussels with bacon, raisins and balsamic; rich housemade gravy; housemade rolls with butter

Laurelhurst Market. Their Thanksgiving menu offers the classics for the holiday.

  • Meats: turkey items from Mary’s Turkeys, including free-range, heritage breed, and organic birds—whole birds, heat & serve confit turkey leg and thigh, smoked turkey gravy, and smoked turkey stock. Foie Gras Mousse and Foie Gras Torchon are also available.

Magna Kusina. “Everything But the Bird” returns to one of Portland’s top Filipino restaurants. Each tray feeds four to six people or two really, really, really hungry people.

Gartner’s Country Meat Market. Located in Cully, this is a very popular butcher shop, with lines often going out the door year-round. They are now taking pre-orders for a limited number of Thanksgiving turkeys; they have smoked turkeys and hams, too. Piccone’s Corner. This whole-animal butcher in the Kerns neighborhood is taking pre-orders for turkeys raised at their Wallow & Root Farm, as well as chicken and pork (requires a $25 deposit). Whole turkeys are $9/lb; smoked turkey breasts are $28/lb; smoked turkey legs are $20/lb; whole pastured chickens are $8/lb; and pork options range from $15 to $17/lb. Salt & Straw. These are the flavors for November 2022, The Thanksgiving Series. The first three flavors have returned from last year, and the remaining are new for 2022.

  • Parker House Rolls w/ Salted Buttercream. Buttery Parker House rolls are glazed with a generous smear of buttercream and topped with flaky sea salt, then gently churned into salted sweet cream. Contains milk, wheat, eggs, soy.
  • Caramelized Turkey & Cranberry Sauce. Roasted turkey bacon from Diestel Farms is added to a savory, buttery brittle seasoned with thyme and freshly ground cubeb pepper. Housemade cranberry sauce brings a sweet/tart jammy flavor to the mix. Contains milk, tree nuts (coconut).
  • Pumpkin & Gingersnap Pie (vegan). A silky, custardy coconut milk-based pumpkin pie ice cream welcomes a crumbled sugared crust, thanks to molasses-spiked gingersnap. Contains tree nuts (coconut), wheat.
  • Roasted Peach & Sage Cornbread Stuffing. Bread cubes are replaced with molasses-y, crumbly cornbread cookies and the cream base has been steeped with fresh sage. Dollops of tart peach jam simmered with warm spices and honey balsamic vinegar brighten it up and the result is “a “balanced, woodsy ice cream.”
  • Mom’s Mango Pie. Mango pureé is blended with tangy cream cheese and fluffy whipped cream to represent the pie filling. A salty graham cracker “crust” is layered throughout. “This ice cream represents the diversity of Thanksgiving traditions with the help of musician Hrishikesh Hirway, and his mom.”
