
This year, both Easter and Orthodox Easter fall on Sunday, April 20, with Holy Week starting Sunday, April 13. It is very uncommon for the two to land on the same day. But regardless of your level of religiosity, Easter can be a sweet time: Brunch, holiday candy, wine, and feeling grateful for spring are All Good Things. After all, Easter’s spring placement has origins in Oestre/Eostre, who is goddess of spring and fertility.

We learned on April 4 that they have opened their pre-orders for Easter. You’ll find items like hot cross buns, cupcakes (including cupcake bouquets), carrot cake, and pies: key lime, coconut cream, lemon meringue, and chocolate cream.
Last day to pre-order is Sunday, April 13. Prices range from $20 to $175. Order on their website. When ordering, you’ll also get a chance to indicate when you’d like to pick up your treats.

Bella Organic
Two full days of Easter egg hunts await you at Bella Organic on Sauvie Island. On Saturday and Sunday, April 19 and 20, from 9am to 5pm, kids and adults alike can hunt for those eggs … and more. Inclusivity is the name of the game this year. Every egg hunt admission includes:

They are offering four Easter items this year (copy mostly from Bella):
- Easter Egg Shortbread cookies. These egg-shaped cookies are drizzled with dark chocolate, sprinkled with sprinkles. There are no eggs in these cookies!
- Savory Spring Crostata. Potatoes, spring greens, various cheeses & pomodoraccio on a butter crust.
- Pastiera di Grano. It’s a wheat berry custard tart with candied orange and orange blossom oil in a shortbread crust. “It’s the only time of year we make it, and we look forward to it all year.”
- Easter Bread. A braided loaf, punctuated with moments of candied orange and golden raisins, topped with glaze and Rosemary sprigs.

Bergerac is offering takeaway Easter brunch kits for $65/each. This year they offer a choice of three quiches: Salmon & Dill, Mushroom & Herb (vegetarian), or Smoked Bacon. Quiche is served with their creamy potato, aioli, celery, red onion, and parsley salad; mixed greens & house dressing also come in the kit.

Nostrana
They are reserving in the main Nostrana dining room and next door at Enoteca Nostrana for an la carte Easter meal. Look forward to lobster rolls, springtime burrata, Shepherd’s salad, pasta—including paglia e fieno (straw and hay fettuccine) with prosecco cream, smoked fish, and salmon roe.
There will also be wood-oven-roasted Dungeness crab cannelloni, asparagi pizza, maiale del mattino (a breakfast-inspired pie with bacon, crispy potato chips and a slow-cooked egg), and a “lamb-chetta,” (a seasonal take on porchetta).

Pix Patisserie is offering a variety of Easter treats, including chocolate eggs, chocolate fish, and peeps. Here is what is available, with copy written by Pix:
- Pix Surprise Eggs: Their version of Kinder Eggs. Dual layered Valrhona white and dark chocolate eggs with a secret prize hidden inside.
- Trompe-l’œil Eggs: Coconut pastry cream topped with a mango “yolk.” Looks like an egg. Tastes like sunshine in the Caribbean.
- Poisson d’Avril: Literally “April Fish,” these are found in chocolate shops all across France for April Fool’s Day when young children slap paper fish onto unsuspecting adult’s backs, crying “Poisson d’Avril” as they run away. Our dark chocolate version comes in tins of two and is best in your mouth, not on your back. Also comes with paper fish.

The Side Yard Farm is hosting their 14th Annual Greek Easter on Sunday, April 20, with a requested 4pm arrival for those who participate in this epic dinner.
