Ice Cream Is Coming to Foster-Powell

I’ve done a little more research on the ice cream shop that a Bridgetown Bites reader brought to my attention a couple of weeks ago. Turns out that yes indeed, there is going to be ice cream coming to Foster-Powell. And according to a permit from early August, it looks like it’s going to be part of an enlarged commercial space.

Goodbye, Frog & Snail

Last week I saw the news on Instagram: Frog & Snail, one of the best places for French-style crepes (including Breton-style buckwheat crepes) in Portland, closed abruptly. The reason behind that is that the owner, Chad Bernard, died on August 15 in what seems to be a sudden event. My heart goes out to his friends and family on his untimely passing.

Personally Bummed: Lazy Susan Is Closing July 23

Mennonite Peanut Butter Pie—one of the best desserts in Portland.

I saw the news on their Instagram today: Lazy Susan is closing; Sunday, July 23 is their final day of service. This is a surprise to me, as it seemed—judging from the difficulty in getting a walk-in table—that they were doing ok. And as the headline says, I am personally bummed about this closure.

La Moule Will Close at the End of July 2023

Via Michael Zusman’s Facebook page I was tipped off to the impending closing of La Moule, a sweet European-style spot in SE Portland (described on their Instagram as “Frenchy food, beautiful cocktails, famous wallpaper & a penchant for quirk”) serving mussels, Belgian beer, and more. They will close at the end of July.
