It Appears TOV Is Busy in Old Starbucks Space

Looks like there will be a new tenant in the old Starbucks location that closed at the start of 2021. And that tenant is TOV.

A Bridgetown Bites tipster let me to an Instagram Story that TOV posted yesterday (Wednesday, so it’s gone gone gone now) showing them doing work inside and posting the hashtag #3639, which is the address of the location on Hawthorne, kitty-corner from McMenamins Bagdad Theatre and Pub. This purple wall (above) made an appearance in the Story and in that post from June, the TOV folks tease out the possibility of a brick & mortar.

Of course, the question that comes to mind is, will they abandon the bus? I really can’t imagine them doing it because it is something that really sets them apart from basically everyone else doing coffee in this town. But I gotta say, the idea of an Egyptian cafe is really appealing, and takes me back to time spent at various cafes and restaurants in the Little Egypt section in my old Astoria neighborhood.

I can’t wait to see what they put together at this new location.
