When I was at the Fremont Fest this past weekend, I saw a sign out in front of Grand Central Baking Company about a BLT. I love BLTs.

At first I thought it might have been a Fremont Fest special, but upon closer look on their ordering website, I learned it was a regular seasonal thing—meaning available for a limited time but not just for the one day of the Fest.

This is undoubtedly the best time of the year to eat a BLT because the tomatoes are at their peak right now. And the Grand Central Baking Company BLT is chock full of juicy ripe red tomato goodness—they make for a truly superb sandwich. Along with these local tomatoes, you’ll find Jack Mountain Bacon, fresh leaf lettuce and Best Foods Mayo on Grand Central’s Como bread, toasted. They serve the sandwich with a pickle.

You can also order the sandwich with avocado ($2 extra) and even another tomato for an additional $1.50. There are a few other minor adjustments you can make, too.

So head on over to Grand Central Baking Company and get yourself one of these beautiful BLTs. Summer goodness par excellence, but only for a short time!
