Zinc Bistro & Bar Has Opened in Multnomah Village

Usually I’m eating on the east side of town, but recently I spent some time in Multnomah Village with a friend for dinner. I’m definitely looking forward to hanging out there again, and soon I hope to stop in at Zinc Bistro & Bar, which opened in the neighborhood last month. They offer French- and Italian-inspired food.

I came across Zinc’s online presence while doing some research, and learned that it is located in the space that previously was home to beloved restaurant Casa Vacca. That restaurant was a victim of the pandemic, closing late last year. Zinc’s first day of service was March 16, 2022.

The owners of Casa Vacca were Peter Vranizan (manager/bartender), Nick Medici (chef) and Sara Medici (business manager). Peter has moved on but Nick and Sarah have remained, reimagining the place into Zinc Bistro & Bar. At first I didn’t understand why the Casa Vacca and Zinc menus were so similar in certain ways, so I’m glad to know that the Medicis are behind both restaurants. Thank you, Village Frame and Gallery, for clarifying it.

That also means that if you miss Casa Vacca, you’ll likely feel at home at Zinc. The menu is filled with delicious things:

  • Salad Verte: Butter Lettuce, Escarole, Herbs, Dijon Vinaigrette
  • Saffron Deviled Eggs: Curry, Dijon, Piquillo Peppers,  Crab
  • Cauliflower Gratin: Béchamel, Gruyere, Toasted Crumb
  • Pear Tartine: Chevre, Fresh Pear, EVOO, Spiced Walnuts
  • Boulette Meatballs: Pork, Beef, Parmesan, Parsley, Thyme, Crème Fraîche, Gravy
  • Beef Bourguignon: Wine Braised Beef, Mushroom, Pearl Onion, Crisp Puff Pastry

The eggs, cauliflower, tartine, and meatballs are also on the Happy Hour menu, which you can access from 4pm to 5pm the days they are open. Zinc also has a small sweets menu that includes, among other things, a salted chocolate mousse, cannoli, and affogato.

Zinc has applied for a full, on-premises liquor license, so expect everything from wine to cocktails.

I look forward to stopping in at Zinc Bistro & Bar in the near future. Glad to see it’s in such good hands and making a imprint on the Multnomah Village dining scene.
