We learned back in January who the James Beard Awards Semifinalists were, and now that list has been reduced to the finalists. Portland—and Oregon—have six individuals and restaurants (includes a bakery and a bar) that are on track to possibly winning a James Beard Award later this summer.

The 2025 James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Finalists

Portland figured into four categories: Outstanding Restaurant, Outstanding Bakery, Outstanding Bar, and Best Chef: Northwest & Pacific (AK, HI, OR, WA). In that final category, two additional chefs from outside Portland but inside Oregon are finalists.

Here are the finalists:

Outstanding Restaurant

Outstanding Bakery

Outstanding Bar

Best Chef: Northwest & Pacific (AK, HI, OR, WA) Outside Portland

  • Ryan Roadhouse, Nodoguro (NE, website)
  • Joshua Dorcak, MÄS, Ashland (website)
  • Timothy Wastell, Antica Terra, Amity (website)

Travel Portland has an informative page of past James Beard Award nominees and venues, too, which is worth checking out. Thanks to the national Eater page for being the source for the above list of 2025 finalists.
