National Donut Day 2026 Is Friday in Portland

Tomorrow is the day: National Donut Day, that is. I don’t know many people who don’t like them, and as Homer Simpson said, “Donuts. Is there anything they can’t do?” For National Donut Day 2026 there are a number of deals going on, plus we’ve gathered up a list of donut shops worth knowing in the area.

Apropos to recent donut chatter, in my opinion, we do not need a Dunkin’ Donuts in Portland (not even to be the Mayor of Dunkin). No need to compare our superior donuts to that east coast chain. Feel free to argue with me in the comments. And if we missed your favorite local donut shop, also let us know in the comments.

National Donut Day 2026

Here are places to consider for National Donut Day 2026—and, frankly, any day. Places with deals/specials for the day are marked with a 🍩.

Annie’s Donuts

Located in the Roseway neighborhood at NE Sandy and 72nd, Annie’s serves up classic donuts—raised glazed, chocolate cake, fritters, maple bars, French crullers, as well as the lesser-known chocolate-covered and custard-filled bismark. This place is a personal favorite and I find its simple, classic donut shop vibe very comforting—along with their delicious classic donuts.

And, they are part of the informal community of Cambodian-owned donut shops located up and down the west coast.

🍩 Blue Star Donuts

They think of National Donut Day as their “Superbowl” and the “happiest day of the year.” Founded 14 years ago, they decided to bring back some of those flavors that put them on the map, for a limited run this month. That includes, Crème Brûlée, Blueberry Bourbon Basil, Apple Cider Fritter, Lemon Poppy Buttermilk Old Fashioned, Raspberry Rosemary, and Passionfruit Coconut, through Thursday, June 18.

And they also have done a collaboration with artist Anna Sweet. She created an art piece based on their classic donut flavors, and will raffle copies off to fans. On National Donut Day, purchase a dozen donuts get a free print of Anna’s artwork. Also, there will be triple loyalty points for the taking, and DJ Uncle Herm at the Goose Hollow location from 11am to 1pm.

Bobadochi

At Bobadochi, you’ll find mochi donuts and gluten-free donuts in classic and more elaborate flavors, like candied maple bacon. You can also get bubble tea and K-Dogs there.

Bun Bandits

We interviewed Sarah and Mackenzie earlier this year, these makers of malasadas (and kolaches). These delicacies are Portuguese/Hawaiian inspired donuts filled with sweet custard including vanilla bean, coconut, Nutella, passionfruit, and guava. They are crazy delicious and are available Fridays to Sundays at their cart in the gas station parking lot.

Carmack’s

Founded in the 1950s, Carmack’s sells spudnuts, a doughnut made with potatoes as an ingredient. A number of things happened over the years to the business, including a kitchen fire in 1997, which caused them to decide to make the donuts at home. That changed this year. From their website:

“In January 2026, I officially revived the family business, beginning with the thing that started it all: donuts. I keep them classic—glazed, chocolate, cinnamon sugar, doughnut holes—alongside a few flavors of my own. No crazy toppings, no Instagram gimmicks. Just honest donuts at honest prices. I believe they’re some of the best you’ll find anywhere—not because I’m boasting, but because I spent years making sure they live up to their reputation.”

5927 N Borthwick Avenue, Portland. Carmack’s website

Coco Donuts

They offer both classic donuts—raised, cake, old fashioned, buttermilk—and mochi donuts. I love stopping in at the shop on NE Broadway for a chocolate old fashioned or one of their glazed buttermilk donuts, and a cup of coffee. They sometimes have discounted donuts there, too.

🍩 Delicious Donuts

From 10am to noon on Friday, June 5, buy a donut and get a free glazed or cake donut. You must use the code name LOOPITER. Also, Jonathan Sanders will provide the music vibes and some goods from COAT [(C)oolest (O)f (A)ll (T)ime], and Bleached By Josh will be there “with the flyest clothing in town.”

🍩 Krispy Kreme

They have two deals on National Donut Day.

  • First, you can get a free donut of your choice (limited to one per guest), no purchase necessary. That said, “Select donuts are excluded from this offer such as specialty and limited time varieties.” Sad trombone.
  • Buy any regular priced dozen and get an Original Glazed dozen for just $2. Add any regular priced dozen to your cart, along with the BOGO2 Original Glazed dozen to redeem online. Offer available June 5.

They make mochi donuts here, no surprise, and they are very tasty. Pip’s Original

This place is known for their made-on-the-spot mini donuts, so they are extremely fresh, and chai flights—not to mention the free birthday dozen on the day of your birth. They have a regular menu and always some specials. Lines are common, but it’s worth it.

4759 NE Fremont Street, Portland. Pip’s Original website

🍩 Sesame Donuts

Sesame Donuts started up in the late 80s and their origin story is very interesting (read it here). On National Donut Day, they’re doing a free mini donut for all customers (while supplies last).

Multiple locations. Sesame Donuts website

Supermarket Donuts

You can get Krispy Kreme donuts at Fred Meyer and Coco Donuts at New Seasons. Also, over at Stumptown Savings last year they did a taste test of supermarket donuts and they were blown away by the winner (spoiler: WinCo). Multiple locations

Tigard Donut

They make classic yeast donuts, eclairs, bars, and a generous gluten-free selection from local provider, Hold the Wheat. They also make kolaches. -JR

🍩 Voodoo Donuts

Probably the shop that people think of first when it comes to donuts in Portland, Voodoo has actually expanded to multiple locations outside of Portland—there’s one opening soon in NYC by Union Square at what used to be a Starbucks in my day (Fun fact: There’s a Krispy Kreme in what used to be a Starbucks in my old Astoria neighborhood).

Anyway, for National Donut Day 2026, you can get a free donut (excluding specialty donuts) on Donut Day if you sign up for their Fan Club. If you choose do so, you’ll get a message with instructions on how to redeem for a free donut. Also, the first 100 customers in-shop can get a free foldable pink box tote with any purchase.

Bonus: This month you can get one of their Pride Bars for Pride month!
