ICYMI, Gebeta Ethiopian Restaurant has moved to the Alberta Arts District. They first established themselves in a kind of unorthodox location in Cully on NE Lombard (FKA Killingsworth) back in 2022, and are now operating over on NE Alberta and 14th Place, having opened there on June 1. This is the old Fuel Cafe space, and no doubt it’s an upgrade for Gebeta. Wishing them all the best in the new location! 1452 NE Alberta Street, Portland
Starbucks PSL returns in late August. Crazy, but it’s true—the American taste of fall (pumpkin spice latte) is arriving before August’s end, compliments of Starbucks. I heard about it on the radio and didn’t quite believe it, but checked it online and rolled my eyes. Waaaaay too early, guys.
Apa Kabar will close. This “tea shop and third space” on MLK will close; their final day of service is Saturday, August 9. They said this about the decision to close:
“Making this decision was extremely difficult, but ultimately, we felt that it was the right call. We are sad to let it go. If you’ve ever sat for tea or been to one of our events, you know how special this place feels and the type of connection it can foster.
“At the same time, we know we can’t do everything. All we can do is follow the things that are inspiring us, and right now, that means that we need to untether ourselves from a physical space. As the future comes into focus, we’ll have plenty more to share!”
Until then you can stop by and have tea, attend events, hang out and “just be.” Very sorry to see them go. 2730 NE MLK Jr Blvd, Portland
