Over the years, I’ve been really impressed by the various Veganizer events produced by Waz Wu and her team here in Portland. Whether it’s Circle V, World Vegan Month, or one of their dinners, you can be sure it will be a solid and enjoyable event. So I am happy to tell you about the Second Annual Veganizer Asian Market, happening Sunday, June 7 at the Redd on Salmon. It looks like a fantastic occasion filled with delicious plant-based food and drink (and you can go straight to the ticketing info, here, if you like).

What Is the Veganizer Asian Market?

It’s fairly straightforward: The market, inspired by the bustling night markets that Waz grew up attending in Singapore, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, gathers small businesses together who identify as Asian. This includes East Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Asia, and Central Asia (though not Siberia and the Russian Far East). These regions of Asia are so varied and interesting, and this market offers a chance to get to know its various beautiful cultures on the continent and its surrounding islands, through food and drink.

There will be over 75 businesses present, all celebrating the intersection of Asian culture and the vegan community. Also important: This event benefits APANO (Asian Pacific American Network of Oregon), which “unites Asians to build power, develop leaders, and advance equity through organizing, advocacy, community development and cultural work.” The collective market donation for the 2025 Veganizer Asian Market totaled $7,354.

This is an all-ages event but children must be accompanied by an adult. Of course, only those 21+ will be allowed to drink alcohol (wristbands will be provided). Dogs other than service animals are not permitted at the event.

What You’ll Find at the Second Annual Veganizer Asian Market

There will be food and drink, as well as art, home goods, and more. All items offered at the market are plant-based and vegan.

Last year’s event was a huge smash, and this year there will be 50% more vendors and triple the square footage. This means they’ll be both indoors and outdoors at the Redd.

As I mentioned earlier, there will be plenty of food and drink, as well as chef demos, artwork, home goods, and more. Here’s more of what to expect.

  • Vegan restaurants offering small plates, street food, and snacks include Farmhouse Kitchen Thai Cuisine, Jade Rabbit, Norah, Mirisata, and Obon Shokudo.
  • Vegan-friendly restaurants offering vegan fare include HeyDay, Himalayan Dumplings, Kayo’s Ramen, Maruti Indian Restaurant, Sandy’s Myanmar Cuisine, Pasar, Soen, Takibi, and Wajan.
  • Asian craft food makers selling their products include HAB Sauce, Okome Kitchen, OTA Tofu, Pan’s Mushroom Jerky, and Tan Tan Foods.
  • Quench your thirst with cocktails and zero proof drinks with Asian flavors from Norah at the bar; SakéOne will offer sake education and tastings at its booth (we’ve talked about them in conjunction with WasabiFest, which is also coming up a week later). There will also be coffee and tea from places like Bark&Brew Matcha, Barkada Coffee, and Yoonique Tea.

Additionally, if you have a VIP ticket, Chef Cyrus Ichiza from Jade Rabbit will be greeting you and presenting a traditional street food, kuih: a rice cake filled with soy curls, fried shallots, matsutake, and sweet potato, hand-pressed in a traditional longevity turtle mold.

Tickets

There are two levels: VIP and General, which you can buy tickets for on Veganizer’s TicketSpice page.

  • VIP Early Entry 4pm. Tickets are $35. This includes a VIP-only hour from 4pm to 5pm, prior to the General Admission ticketholders arriving at 5pm. You also get:
    • An exclusive welcome dish (vegan, gluten-free) by Jade Rabbit.
    • A $10 drink coupon to the bar by Norah.

  • General Admission 5pm-9pm. Pay what you can (free/$5/$10/$15 entry) online or at the door (cash/Venmo). Attendee contributions help cover the costs of producing this Asian heritage community event.
