We’ve got your October 2026 story updates, filling you in on places that have opened, ones that are getting read to open, status on work being done, and more. Enjoy catching up!
Alberta Donut Cafe. They’ve gotten their floors done—nice and sealed—and it looks like some cabinets have arrived. They are still aiming for a fall 2026 opening. 2805 NE Alberta Street, Portland

Atlas Pizza. They have been open since Monday, September 21, there in the old Original Dream Pizza spot. And yes, there’s plenty of Ranch. 4620 NE Glisan Street, Portland

Bar Sprezzatura. An update on their opening day, which will be Friday, October 16, for this newest Michal Mina project. Reservations are available via SevenRooms, a new hospitality management platform option that we will no doubt continue to see more of. I’ll be at a media tasting tonight and will share impressions soon.
Hours will be Sunday to Thursday, 5pm to 9pm; Friday and Saturday, 5pm to 10pm. Lunch will be launching later in October, with hours from 11am to 2:30pm. 1001 SW Broadway, Portland

Doug Fir Lounge. Way back in February 2023, we broke the news that Doug Fir Lounge would be moving to the old Le Bistro Montage space. After what seemed a bit on the “fits and starts” spectrum they are getting closer to opening than ever before—projected to be early 2027. Their liquor license application is live. It gives us some good info:
- Open every day from 4pm to 2:30am.
- Live music Fridays through Sundays, 7pm to 1am.
- DJs and recorded music, too.
- 53 seats in the restaurant, 39 outdoors, 52 for “other seating.”
- The venue itself will be able to seat 365 persons.
Meanwhile, Galleria & Grotto will open in the old Doug Fir space. 301 SE Morrison Street, Portland

Farmer and the Beast. We heard from Farmer and the Beast about their status at the NE Dekum Breakside location:
“Unfortunately, yes, we’ve closed the Dekum location. We and Breakside mutually decided to go in different directions there, but we are still continuing our relationship with them at their Beaverton location. We’re also getting ready to open a new cart in Multnomah Village at Village Pickle in about two weeks.” 820 NE Dekum Street, Portland

Mossback Tavern. They jokingly called the place, “Messback Tavern” right now, as things are a bit chaotic, as it goes. They’ve doing some painting, acquired booths, and erected a wall. Commissioned art will go on it. They cleaned out the taps and received the first keg of beer they’ve been working on with Away Days Brewing.
They continue to work on the space and are looking forward to bringing great pizza to the neighborhood. 3813 SE Gladstone Street, Portland

Mikiko Mochi Donuts. Their Bridgeport Village location is open now–the opening day was Tuesday, September 22. They’ve got spooky October flavors there, too. 7455 SW Bridgeport Road, Tigard

Parkrose Local Grocery. The dream is still alive. They raised 107% of their $30,000 fundraiser ($32,235), and it looks like you can still donate, if you’d like. KGW recently interviewed Don McKeever, the man behind the project, and they updated the opening date as “to come.” 10721 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland

Proof Cocktails & Lounge. After months of hard work, they opened in downtown Vancouver on Thursday, October 1 with a ribbon cutting. You can see that and more of the space, look, and feel in this Instagram reel. They are open 2pm to 10pm Sunday, Monday, and Thursday, then open 2pm to 11pm on Friday and Saturday. 801 Washington Street, Vancouver

Salami Mammi. I stopped by the other day and they were “closed for the summer.” What going on is that Don’s Favorite Foods is reopening in their original home—which is where Salami Mammi has been. According to the Don’s website, you can enjoy them “October through December. One seating a night, Wednesday through Saturday, with arrivals between 6:00 and 7:00pm. Reservations are prepaid.”
Salami Mammi looks to reopen Saturday, November 14. 12500 SW Broadway Street, Beaverton

Slow Pour. They’ve been open about six months now, and What If Films made a short film about them, which you can watch over on Youtube. 7727 SE 13th Avenue, Portland

Two Roosters. Their permanent sign is up and they’ve expanded their offerings—lately they’ve had Vietnamese coffee jello, Banana Pudding Tiramisu, and Krab Rangoon Toast; they’ve also been making their own kaya (a thick spread flavored with pandan) for kaya toast. This is such a great addition to East Portland. 11937 NE Halsey Street, Portland
