5. Maeve, a Coffee and Wine Bar, Opens in Sellwood This Spring

A new coffee and wine bar called Maeve is coming to the Westmoreland section of Sellwood. It’s going to be run by two sisters, Amanda and Kendra Stark, who have experience in the world of counseling. Amanda’s husband, Richard Forrest Mavis (software developer and former owner of Gigantic Gallery in NW Portland), may also be involved. They hope to open in April.

5. City Bridge & Tunnel Bar to Open Downtown in the Spring

A new bar opening in downtown Portland? Maybe the pandemic really is slowing down. In any case, it’s a good thing—City Bridge & Tunnel, a cocktail bar in the old Shift Drinks space is looking to open this spring, hopefully in March.

5. The Bulgogi + Du Kuh Bee Connection

In the “that’s news to me” category, it has only become clear (to me) recently that The Bulgogi Korean restaurant in the Hollywood District is managed by the Du Kuh Bee family.  I had seen the signage on The Bulgogi’s window for a long time about their offering Du Kuh Bee’s famous noodles, but I was unaware just how close the two businesses are. 5. Second Profession Brewing Partnering With Arrowood Restaurant

While driving along NE Sandy Blvd (again), I noticed that part of Second Profession Brewing windows were papered over—at this point after so many years of neighborhood blogging, papered-over windows always catch my eye and get me wondering. I stopped by and saw that the old pub that was part of the brewery is now going to be the restaurant Arrowood. The pub’s final day of business was July 31.
