I thought I’d relaunch this monthly post featuring the top 5 posts from the previous month. I only posted twice, so it’s interesting to see what people were drawn to. As always, thanks to all my readers for stopping by!
5. My New Fruit Love is the Adriatic Fig
This past weekend I made it over to Fig Fest at One Green World Nursery. One of the things that was on my docket was to try the different figs they had to offer; there were seven varieties to sample. Continue reading “Top 5 Posts On Bridgetown Bites, January 2021”
After a little bit of a break (thank you, paid work), I’m back, and so here’s the top five posts from last month, November 2019. There was a lot of traffic thanks to refferals from PDX Eater, for which I am grateful! Here’s what you all liked last month—restaurant news, for the most part. As always, thanks for reading!
5. Second Profession Brewing Partnering With Arrowood Restaurant
While driving along NE Sandy Blvd (again), I noticed that part of Second Profession Brewing windows were papered over—at this point after so many years of neighborhood blogging, papered-over windows always catch my eye and get me wondering. I stopped by and saw that the old pub that was part of the brewery is now going to be the restaurant Arrowood. The pub’s final day of business was July 31. It’s time to bring back this old chestnut—the top five posts on Bridgetown Bites in January 2019. Of the five, one post was written last year, and keeps showing up in my analytics—the closing of Salt, Fire & Time (I still miss that place). Anyway, here are the five posts you read most often this past month; and thanks to Eater and Reddit for the traffic.
5. It’s Official: Gado Gado Is Coming to the Hollywood District

Earlier this week, I mentioned that a restaurant named Gado Gado will move into the now-shuttered My Canh space later this year, and wondered if it was the same Gado Gado as the robust and popular Asian food popup. Today I learned via Eater that Portland Monthly confirms it. This is pretty exciting news for the Hollywood District! Their food looks and sounds delicious. I was very sorry to hear that Salt, Fire & Time/Broth Bar (115 NE 6th Avenue) is set to close on March 24, after 10 years in the business. Last summer I found their collagen coolers to be very tasty, and over the years I had heard high praise for their bone broths. Owner Tessa Yellig posted a long announcement about the closing on Facebook, which ended with the news that she will be continuing her teaching and consulting at Wild Heart Solutions. Four fruit and collagen drinks for summer. From L-R, Melon Moon, Flame Tamer, Sweet Greens, and Beauty Lemonade.
Let’s hear it for tempting, refreshing summer drinks! And it’s a bonus when they’re good for you. Now, we have exactly that: enter, the Summer Collagen Cooler.
Earlier this week I stopped by Salt Fire & Time’s Broth Bar to sample their new Summer Collagen Coolers. These are raw, cold pressed juices combined with collagen peptides and a little soda water that results in a light and fizzy drink. While fresh raw juice is nourishing in its own right with vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients (plant chemicals), the addition of collagen amps up the nutrient density of the drink, making it greater than the sum of its parts. It is a good source of protein, aids joint health, helps with digestion, and also improves hair, skin, and nails. And the best part about these Collagen Coolers—they taste really good!
Salt Time & Fire’s proprietor, Tressa Yellig, spoke about how excited she is about these new drinks for summer, as well as how much she enjoys providing a range of nourishing foods to Portlanders. About the Collagen Coolers she points out, “We produce less collagen as we age and supplementing with collagen-rich foods can make up the difference that our bodies need in delicious ways everyday by drinking bone broth or refreshing collagen coolers.” Continue reading “Salt Fire & Time’s Broth Bar Introduces Summer Collagen Coolers”
