Welcome to November 2025’s review of top 5 posts for the month. First of all, I can hardly believe it is now December. November’s top posts were a mix, and our roundup of SNAP meals was a surprising hit—it was created really on the spur of the tragic moment. Our Thanksgiving roundup also did very well, and I’m happy to know it was a helpful resource.
The remaining three were about restaurants: one re-opening with a new concept; one opening in 2026; and one that soft opened the day we published (I heard some great comments about the food).
As for traffic, it was a dip compared to last month, which is understandable. That SNAP roundupn at the end of October gave us a huge spike and skewed things, as nice as it was to see them. So if we compare November to October until 10/29—when the SNAP post was published—the increase between October and November is a very small percentage for both page views (about 62,000 in November) and unique visitors (about 45,000 in Novmber). We also did not publish on Thanksgiving.
As always, thanks for reading, commenting, sharing, and for your tips! Here’s to sliding toward the end of 2025.
5. Epif Reopens With Brunch This Week in Portland

Good news: Epif reopens tomorrow! Known for many years as a restaurant serving vegan food “inspired by the Andes region of South America,” it will shift from evening service to brunch service starting Thursday, November 6. And its new menu will remain completely vegan. I spoke with Epif co-owner Nicolle Dirks to learn more.
4. Nosh at The Noshpit in the Old Backyard Social Space in Portland

Back at the end of September I learned that a new bar/restaurant was planned for what was home to Backyard Social for many years. Called The Noshpit, they look to offer sandwiches, soup, hot dogs, drinks, and more. I spoke with the owner of The Noshpit, Jeff Jones, the other day about the new place, and here is what I learned.
3. OK Chicken & Khao Soi Will Open in the Old Pok Pok Space in Portland

OK Chicken & Khao Soi has been the source of a lot of chatter and speculation over the months since it was first reported in The Oregonian. I, too have been curious and wanted to learn more, so I reached out to them. I had a chance to chat with Sam Smith, one of the owners. Here is what I learned.
2. Thanksgiving 2025 in Portland

Thanksgiving 2025—it’ll be here before you know it (November 27). We hope this resource will be of help for those making their dinner and ingredient pre-orders, as well as for those trying to snag a reservation at one of our local restaurants.
1. SNAP Meals: Where To Eat, No Questions Asked, During the Suspension of SNAP

A number of restaurants, cafes, and food carts in the Portland area are providing what we are calling “SNAP Meals”: They’re stepping up and helping feed folks who will lose their SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, AKA food stamps) benefits starting in November. It is heartening to see this community effort and the generosity in our local food scene. We’ve put together a list of places—50 businesses making up 84 locations, at the writing of this roundup—where people can access food to eat while SNAP benefits are unfunded starting next month.
